What is a menstrual Cup? How do I use it?
The DivaCup is a reusable, bell-shaped menstrual cup that is worn internally and sits low in the vaginal canal, collecting rather than absorbing your menstrual flow. Menstrual cups have existed since the 1930s when women were searching for an alternative to the choices of the time. Yet, its breakthrough into the feminine hygiene industry is much more recent.
Many women feel uneasy about changing their menstrual care routine. Years of dealing with the sights and odors of disposable tampons and pads cause the familiar reaction: “ick!”. The DivaCup empowers women to connect with their bodies and menstrual cycles like never before. Perfect for all activities (on air, land or sea), its easy care and use make for a better period experience. Wear The DivaCup for up to 12 hours without leaks or worry.
The DivaCup Features:
- 12 hour leak-free protection!
- Made from the highest quality healthcare grade silicone to assure comfort and durability.
- Does not contain any of the following: latex, plastic, PVC, acrylic, acrylate, BPA, phthalate, elastomer, polyethylene, and free of colors and dyes.

One of the things that really attracted us to menstrual Cups is Eco Friendly aspect. Think about how many menstrual products there are to dispose of!!! It’s even hard to imagine really. And then there’s the Toxic Shock Syndrome side of things to think about (TSS). Using tampons doesn’t cause TSS, a bacteria does, but women using tampons appear to be at higher risk, and it has been suggested that the super absorbent tampons and also using tampons overnight may add to that risk.
You can do anything while using the DivaCup swim, cycle, gym class, dance, hike etc. And as it can be left in place for several hours, there is a convenience factor which you don’t get with other menstrual products.
Remember, no matter where you are in the world, The DivaCup only needs to be washed well, with clean, potable water, twice a day (every 12 hours). If you need to remove your DivaCup in a public place, just wipe it with a damp tissue and re-insert. At the next convenient time, wash The DivaCup with the DivaWash or warm water and a mild, unscented water-based (oil-free) soap. The most important thing to remember is to make sure your hands are clean before you insert or remove the cup.
